Greetings!
My name is Herbie Barlow and I am the proud owner of a young man named Brent.
We are both about the same age - I am 3 and Brent is 18. I take him on walks and play quite often with him. I have been teaching him to find lost and trapped people. I sent him to a Fire College in November to learn how to "MANTRACK". Then I sent him to work with the NC Department of Corrections Fugitive Recovery Units and my friends Sally, Molly, and Reba. They are Bloodhounds.
Brent and I have been training pretty regularly now for about 3 months. I am trying to train Brent to be a USAR and Wilderness SAR Handler. When he reaches those Certifications, I hope to get him trained in the areas of Disaster, and Collapsed Structure & Debris Rescue. My professional friends claim that it takes about 18 months to train a handler to work with a dog like me.
With this Web Site, I hope to show you just what a Talented Team a Properly Trained Handler and Rescue Dog can be. In case you are wondering, I am a mixed - breed dog. I am half Border Collie and half Black Lab. Brent is a male Caucasian of German, French, and English descent. As you go through this Web Site, Please check out each of the Links and learn as much as you can about different types of Rescue Dogs like me.
Enjoy!! K-9 "Herbie"
